Craftsy: Floral Embroidery, Super Simple Wallet

I ended 2023 and started 2024 working on gifts for others.  My niece loves carrying crossbody purses, and over the years, many people have gifted her coin purses for her money,  loose change, and other little items. However, she recently found herself in need of a small wallet with a coins pocket. I searched a few stores, but most of the ones we found didn't check all the boxes. It had to be small, with a coin pocket, pockets for cash, and a few card slots.

This was one of those times when it was easier to make it than to keep searching for it. The main fabric is two fabric swatches I purchased years ago from an online store while trying to find the perfect denim fabric for another project. I sewed the swatches together to make a large piece for cutting. The lining fabric is a fat quarter from Walmart. The pattern is from the sewing wallets step-by-step class by Deby Coles on Craftsy with a couple of modifications. I purchased the class a few years ago during a holiday sale, and it's still a favorite. I've made several wallets using the patterns in the class (click here to see another wallet made from the class) and learned a few techniques that  I continue to use when making wallets or purses.

The step-by-step videos are great for beginners, and each project builds on skills learned from making the first wallet, the super simple wallet. The original design has another card pocket where I put the coin purse. Since my niece only has one card, six card slots seemed excessive, so I substituted one card slot pocket for the coin pocket. This was an easy sew project with beautiful results.
